The softest group in the whole study, and the most expensive place to be soft
Accountants are the weakest group in the entire scan. 41.3 out of 100 across the practices I measured, worse than restaurants, worse than manufacturers, worse than anything else with a sample big enough to publish. Legal came in at 31.3 and insurance at 34.1. For a set of businesses where a single client is worth thousands over several years, that is a strange place to be sitting.
Fort Mitchell is the clearest example I found. Working along the Dixie Highway corridor there are law firms, CPA practices and insurance agencies stacked next to each other, and 57% of the sites I scanned in that town never name Fort Mitchell in the title tag. Your clients are local, they search locally, and the one line Google shows them does not say where you are.
The other pattern is a firm with four partners and one page about the firm. Each of you does something different, and each of those things is a search somebody in Kenton or Hamilton County is running this week. A practice area deserves a page. So does a question you get asked on every first call.
That matters more here than it does in a trade, because the buying decision is slower. Nobody picks an attorney in ninety seconds. They read, they compare, they ask somebody they trust, and they come back a week later. Content that answers what they are actually worried about is doing sales work while you sleep, and 74% of the professional offices I scanned have nothing on the site that answers anything.
This is also the group where the AI answer engines arrive first, because these are exactly the questions people now put to an assistant rather than typing into a search box. A practice with no structured data is not in that answer at all, and nearly half of them have none.
What that means in practice
